Pros: Legend of Master 2 is an RPG with a more action based combat (think Zelda). There are different classes, weapons, etc. and it is pretty much a basic roleplaying game. That being said, it is rare to find a role-playing game on the App store that doesn't completely suck.

The graphics and animations were surprisingly good. They kept the old semi-top down view, but really added some nice touches. Everything moved smoothly, and looked good.

Also, the controls were pretty good. Easily laid out, easy to use, and not terribly complicated.

There is a story, and while its not the most complicated of stories, nor the most original, and you have to wade through Google translate grammar, its better than most on the app store.

In fact, that just about sums up the game perfectly. By console standards, its not very good, but compared to most other japanese RPGs on the app store, its pretty good.

Cons: As I said, you have to wade through Google translate grammar, which is tolerable on a really good game that doesn't rely on dialogue. However, this is an RPG where dialogue is a crucial element, so it was distracting. If you made the speech better the whole game would go up several notches.

The game is very easy. I have yet to even come close to dying, and even on the few occasions where I was to half my health, I had an abundance of health potions. I wish the game was much harder.

There are several little things I wont go into, but they all add up to keep the game in the "ok" range. Just minor tweaking and refining would make this game infinitely better.

In Kingball, you are a molten-ish ball that rolls around and solves puzzles. The rolling is controlled by the accelerometer.

The controls worked out much better than I was expecting. Normally, with the tilt-to-roll-the-ball controls, you get a weird, glitchy and inaccurate mess. Not so with Kingball. The controls were quite accurate and smooth, and every time I messed up, it was because I messed up, not the game.

The levels were also very well designed. The there was a good range of difficulty, and I could tell that there had been a lot of thought put into it.

Cons: There is only one thing that made me not like the game.

The camera.

Just... wow. I literally got a headache after playing it for 5 minutes. After playing it over the course of several days I managed to build my endurance to 6 minutes.
To accomodate from its behind-the-ball camera, there is a directional pad in the bottom right corner that you can use to move the camera. This would be nice except the change is instant, disorienting, and doesn't always work.

This wouldn't be an issue, except that it is a crucial part of the game. You literally cannot beat the game without using it.
That one thing was what kept me from liking the game, and kept me from playing it for any length of time. Until they fix that, it's just unplayable for me.

Just about the only good thing I liked about the game was the graphics. They were pretty good, especially for a phone.

The game is too simple. You just shoot more and more zombies. It seriously would have made more sense as a single level game where you see how far you can go.

The controls are good in concept, but have too many issues to make them work. The shooting button doesn't work at times, the switching and reloading take forever, the rocket launcher doesn't shoot for an eternity after you pull the trigger, etc.

The biggest issue was the accuracy of the guns. I understand a bit of realism is good, especially with military themed games. I also understand that shooting things from a helicopter is far from a precise art. But, this is still a game, and you need to sacrifice a little realism for good gameplay. I literally wasted a clip shooting directly at an ammo box before I hit it...

All in all, the game had potential, but it needs a lot more refinement to make it good.

Pros: Army VS Zombie is one of the most solid games I've seen in a long while for the iPhone. Basically the game is centered around moving from your base on the left side of the battlefield to the enemies base on the right, then destroying the enemies base/cannon/whatever on the other side. You are the main hero, and have several useful attacks of your own, but you win by deploying units to help you fight through the zombies. The units can only come from your base though, so the farther you move right, the longer it takes for them to reach you.

First, I love the gameplay. It's simple, easy to understand, and has a surprising amount of strategic depth for what it is. The concept may be a little cliche, but the gameplay isn't and that's what matters. The controls are incredibly easy. I forget I'm using controls, which is the way it should be.

There are quite a few different units, upgrades, etc. that you can purchase with in game currency, and the big thing that I like is that the upgrades are UPGRADES! If you've read my last few reviews, i've mentioned that too many games take the interesting choices out of upgrading, and make it a linear process. Each unit in this game is linear, but the many different things you could put points into to help your play style make it great.

And you'll need the upgrades because this game is HARD. Not in the way getting 3 stars on Angry Birds is hard... Real hard. Each level feels like a fight that you can't beat, and you have to crawl your way to the other side. Games of this difficulty are refreshing amongst the waves of casual catapult games.

Cons: My biggest and only real complaint about this game is that each level takes forever. WAY longer than a good long level. Each level is the length of a regular game's final boss fight. My first boss was scary. It certainly contributes to the battle effect, so in that regard its awesome. But I really don't want to play a game that gives me physical fatigue.

Pros: Tower of Fortune is a game where you are battling your way up a tower to save your daughter from certain evil/death/bad things. Everything in the game used slot machine mechanics. Fighting, healing, eating, everything.

Tower of Fortune gave a good first impression. It started with some back story (however small) and got right into the game.
I like the pixeled graphics. I've seen a lot of developers going back to that style and I enjoy it. The black and white of those graphics reminded me of my Gameboy, so another plus there.

I have to admit, this is the first game I've seen that uses slot machine mechanics for EVERYTHING, so points for originality.

In the end though, the game only gets a like from be because it took me by surprise and was one of the most interesting concepts I've seen in a while. Originality goes a long way with me.

Cons: Even though the slot machines are cool, they don't really work in this type of game. It ended up making the entire game feel like... well... a slot machine. I want interesting choices in my game experience... or choices at the very least. This game offers none. Combat is one enemy at a time, moving up the tower, and you basically just hit spin over and over and hope. Not really a mechanic to pull you in.

Apart from that, the game was lacking in content. It was very short, and while I liked its presentation, there was so little to the game that it didn't have a chance to impress me.

Pros: One thing I have to give Cure John is originality in concept. I have honestly never played a game about sickness, or if I have, it certainly did not include diarrhea as one of them.

The gameplay was simple, and easy to understand. There were tutorial screens any time something new was introduced, so there were not annoying enemy types that I didn't know how to kill (a problem in some games of this type.)

Basically Cure John's gameplay is like any other side scrolling shooter, although there were many more enemies in Cure John than most of these games, which is something I liked. It had a decent difficulty to it.

Cons: The BIGGEST issue that got me with this game was the grammar. I am almost convinced that the makers used Google Translate for the english. This wouldn't even be that big of a deal if the game didn't flash health tips on every loading screen throughout the game, which was also weird and off putting. If they had been funny, or over the top it would have been okay, but the game legitimately seemed to be really concerned with health, which made it seem like a promo game for dentists or something.

The controls limited the gameplay, simply because they were trying to go to simple with them. The double tap power activated too often, and in a game using this type of movement controls, that is an issue.

Overall, I just didn't like it because it was weird. And not the good weird, where it introduces something completely new that takes a while to get used to. The kind of weird that is just... weird.
