Pros: “Mushroom War” is a side scrolling defense game, and (as we all know) the best defense is a quality offense.
The player deploys troops of humanoid mushroom guys to attack oncoming skeletons of suspiciously the same height and clothing of our mushroom brethren (aren’t we, as proud mushroom peoples, just fighting ourselves?!)
Just kidding; it’s not that profound. Or is it? To be honest, I didn’t read the text setting up the premise. Text in games (especially in the beginning and especially in casual games) makes me so impatient. I just want to get to the action, and figure out the “plot” as I go on. As it turns out, a plot is fully unnecessary to enjoy “Mushroom War.” However, for you fellow “Amy of Darkness” fans out there, I just imagined the bad guys as the evil / epic skeleton army, and the good guys as a combination of 80’s commercial “scrubbing...
Cons: The game play is not very complex. If you don’t pass a level, it’s most likely because you didn’t fully upgrade your guys or didn’t realize that a new type of defender was available.

Really the only “work” that the player does is the selection / timing of deploying mushroom guys and upgrading them whenever possible. If that is well managed, then the game really just plays itself.
