Pros: “Bitless” is classic arcade fun with twisted humor – running and jumping, and the occasional blocks of eyeballs. You play as a blocky character that only knows one direction – forward. Forward is altered by the player’s interaction with the environment. There is no instant mechanic for “move left” or “move right;” instead, this is accomplished by either inertia (somehow from a starting position) or by hitting a wall, which forces the player to move in the opposite...
Cons: Games in 8-bit style are a dime-a-dozen these days, so the coolness / nostalgia factor of this approach seems to be losing its impact. However, “Bitless” manages this style perfectly, and I wouldn’t want to see it in any other way.

Pros: Gangster Granny is a Third-Person Shooter that follows a bad-ass grandma as she busts out of jail, guns a blazin'. The game is constructed as a fairly straight-forward and simple TPS, with basic tasks that you complete in order to move on (like switching certain power stations off, or collecting certain items). As you're running around, enemies (e.g., prison guards) try and take you down. But don't worry, you've got some firepower to cap anyone that comes in your way. While on the whole,...
Cons: While I liked the concept of Gangster Granny and thought it could be a game I'd enjoy, in the end, issues with controls really hindered the game. I won't speak too much to V1 (which, honestly, was almost unplayable with the control setup of two different joysticks for vertical and horizontal scrolling), but will comment on V1.1. Although the controls were much improved from V1, I still had a lot of problems. The fact that the fire button is not actually a button but a...

Pros: I came up with a lot of brief, one word descriptions of Super Meat Boy as I was shouting at the t.v. while playing it, but I don't think it would be appropriate to repeat them in this review. So first things first: Super Meat Boy is easily one of the hardest games ever released. This retro-styled 2D-platformer, has no forgiveness, no check-points and no health bar. Any contact with a circular saw, broken glass, or any of the other numerous death inducing objects results in pixelated blood...
Cons: Some (if not most) gamers will find Super Meat Boy unnecessarily hard. I would be very impressed by the person who could get through this game without breaking down into either violent yelling or crying at least once, but for those itching for a good old-fashioned challenge, I can recommend no game more strongly than Super Meat Boy
